Studio layout sketch showing six rooms: Grounding, Making, Dialogue, Reflection, Exhibition, and Care. Each room holds a distinct pedagogical and emotional function

This sketch maps the spatial rhythm of Living Threaded. Each room responds to a different pedagogical function—grounding, making, reflecting, and caring—stitched together as a living archive.

ROOM 1 – Grounding & Gathering

A space for gentle arrivals and grounding. ROOM 1 hosts small group check-ins, nourishment mapping, and reflective journaling. With its smart tech setup, it also supports hybrid introductions and remote participation. This room sets the tone for relational rhythm and intentional beginnings.

ROOM 2 – Making & Memory

ROOM 2 is a tactile studio for textile work, stitching, and embodied making. It’s where memory meets material—threads become testimony. Youth participants co-create here, exploring identity through fabric, sound, and story. The tech supports documentation and live sharing.

ROOM 3 – Dialogue & Debate

Designed for critical conversation and collaborative pedagogy, ROOM 3 holds space for theory, feedback, and co-authorship. It’s where learners challenge misrecognition and rehearse visibility. The AV setup enables remote guest speakers and youth-led presentations.

ROOM 4 – Archive & Reflection

ROOM 4 is quieter, slower. It’s a space for archiving care—recording comfort meals, mapping emotional rhythm, and editing footage. It supports solo reflection and small group editing. The tech allows for high-quality recording and post-production.

ROOM 5 – Expansion & Exhibition

ROOM 5 is the most flexible—used for rehearsals, pop-up exhibitions, and collaborative installations. It’s where the studio expands outward, inviting public engagement. The room’s tech enables immersive presentations and showcases of youth-led work.

STORAGE – Infrastructure of Care

Not just a utility space—this is where comfort items, materials, and nourishment tools are held. It supports the invisible labor of care, ensuring the studio remains responsive and resourced.

SOCIAL BAR – Communal Pulse

A shared area for informal connection, snacks, and spontaneous dialogue. It’s the pulse of the studio—where relationships deepen and ideas cross-pollinate. It’s also a site of rest and restoration.
